Welcome to PLANTME 🌱
Climate Action Meets Social Impact
Welcome to PlantMe, a mission dedicated to climate action and social impact. Situated in the pivotal region of Sinincay, our goal is not just to combat climate change but to sustainably change lives. We aim to restore and preserve the natural environment, mitigate the effects of climate change, and uplift local communities.
Our project focuses on three key areas: decarbonization through native reforestation, preservation of native forests and their water resources, and community education and involvement.
The escalating global temperature is a pressing issue that demands immediate attention. According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the Earth's surface temperature has increased by approximately 1.0°C since the pre-industrial era, primarily due to anthropogenic activities. This incremental rise in temperature exacerbates extreme weather events, disrupts ecosystems, and poses a significant threat to global biodiversity. The 2015 Paris Agreement, a historic international treaty, aims to limit global warming to well below 2.0°C and preferably to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. Nevertheless, current mitigation efforts are insufficient to meet these targets, and there is an urgent need for accelerated action (IPCC, 2019).

The Stark Reality: Ecuador's Vanishing Green
Between 2001 and 2022, Ecuador faced an alarming depletion of its tree cover. The country lost 954,000 hectares, which translates to a 5.0% decrease since the year 2000. The consequences extend far beyond just losing green landscapes; this deforestation has resulted in the emission of 607 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO₂e). These figures are not just statistics; they're a wake-up call—a clarion for immediate action.
The loss of tree cover not only jeopardizes Ecuador's rich biodiversity but also exacerbates climate change, contributing to a global crisis. Our Sinincay Reforestation Project is a direct response to this pressing issue. By focusing on native tree planting, we aim to reverse the damage and create a blueprint for effective climate action.

Our Objectives
-
Decarbonization: Planting native trees reduces atmospheric CO2 by up to 48 pounds per tree per year. (IPCC, 2019)
-
Biodiversity and Preservation: Our reforestation efforts aim to bring back native species, enhancing the overall health and biodiversity of the ecosystem.
-
Community Engagement and Education: We actively engage local communities in our reforestation efforts, fostering responsabilithy and employment.
